Special
Services

In addition to our regular Sunday morning worship services we have a number of special services throughout the year. These services include:

Holy Communion - We celebrate Holy Communion the first and third Sundays of each month.

Christmas Cantata - Our choir presents a special service of music to celebrate the Christmas season each year.

Christmas Eve Communion - We hold a very special Communion service on Christmas Eve. In the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season, this candlelight Communion service provides the opportunity to stop and reflect on the true meaning of Christmas.

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper - In preparation for the Lenten season, which is a time of abstinence, cooking pancakes was a traditional way to use up all the eggs, fat, and dairy products in the home. We remember this old tradition with our own pancake supper.

Service of Ashes - Our Ash Wednesday Service of Ashes is a somber service that begins the Lenten season by reminding us of the sacrifices that Christ made on our behalf, and calls us to a time of sober reflection and spiritual redirection.

Passover Seder Meal - To honor and remember the Passover meal with which our Lord's Supper was begun, we host a Messianic Seder Meal. Our Seder is patterned after the traditional Jewish celebration, while incorporating the events of the Last Supper that Jesus shared with His disciples.

Sunrise Service - To remember the events of that first Easter morning, we hold a special service at sunrise, followed by a delicious breakfast. (We alternate this service with our sister church, Church Hill United Methodist Church.)

Easter Sunday Service - We celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ with a joyful service of word and music to remind us of His triumph over sin and death.

Cluster Singing Event - All of the Methodist churches in the Natchez Cluster join together at Washington on the fourth Sunday of August each year for a musical worship service, with performances by musicians from each church, followed by refreshments. It is a great time to visit with friends from area churches.

Peanut Boil - In September of each year, we enjoy a time of fun and fellowship while boiling and eating mountains of peanuts.

Fourth Sunday Lunches - Except for the summer months, we have a fellowship meal on the fourth Sunday of each month, with a different theme for each month. Themes include soup and chili, salads and sandwiches, potluck, pizza, and hamburger cookout.

Magnolia House Ministry - Each third and fifth Sunday, we minister to the residents of Magnolia House, an assisted living center, by providing a time of song and worship and a service of Holy Communion.

Pizza lunches are a big hit for members and visitors alike!
