Missions

Our mission work includes support of the following:

Wesley Pines Conference, Retreat, and Camping Center, Gallman, Mississippi, provides opportunities for quiet reflection, spiritual growth, and meaningful worship in a beautiful natural setting through its retreat and recreational facilities. It also offers summer camping activities for young people, providing them the opportunity to make new friends and learn new skills while learning about Christ. Our church has provided funds for repairs and improvements of the facilities, as well as funds for camping scholarships.

UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) is a non-profit international humanitarian aid organization of the United Methodist Church. UMCOR is active in many parts of the world bringing hope, providing relief from hunger and disasters, providing clean water and teaching peace. They provide emergency relief in the form of financial aid and essential supplies. Our church has participated with flood buckets, health kits, and financial aid to the UMCOR Disaster Response in times of crisis and disaster.

First United Methodist Church of Memphis is located in, and ministers to, the downtown area of Memphis TN, having made the intentional decision to stay in that area when so many other churches were moving away from downtown in the 1960s. They recently lost their beautiful and historic building to a devastating fire. Our church has assisted in their rebuilding efforts by donating funds to their capital campaign.

The Chabadza Covenant is a covenant between United Methodists in Mississippi and Zimbabwe signed at the 2006 Annual Conference to support ministries with children and youth. "Chabadza" is a Shona word meaning to join someone already at work.

Gideons International is a worldwide nonprofit organization whose objective is to win others for the Lord, Jesus Christ through the association of Christian business and professional men for service, the personal testimony and personal work by individual Gideons, and the placing of the Bible or portions therof, in hotels, hospitals, schools, institutions, and also through the distribution of same for personal use.

The Stewpot is located in Natchez, Mississippi, and ministers to the needs of people locally by providing hot meals daily. For those unable to go to the Stewpot for their meal, it is delivered to them.

Needy individuals and families are provided with the means to help improve their life. Our latest individual was a single woman whose home had burned. We provided the funds to set her up in an apartment.
